5 World Cup Coaches Who Look Like James Bond Villains!!

Even if you’re not a huge soccer fan, the World Cup still offers many rich sources of entertainment.

The unfamiliar combination of jock couture, lifelong cigarette consumption, gimlet-eyed egomania and crazy foreign haircuts — international soccer coaches tend to look like they should be ensconced in heavily fortified island compounds, preparing to unleash photoplasmic death rays if their demands are not met.

Here are five soccer coaches whose extravagantly evil looks are worthy of an assignment for 007.

Just imagine each of these men saying: “You will now meet your fate, Mr. Bond

1. Pim Verbeek (Australia)

The Dutch specialize in churning out gun-for-hire coaches who end up in far-flung corners of the soccer world.

Not only does he lead Australia’s heavy-booted Socceroos — while they may not beat you, but they’re going to beat you, if you catch our drift — but he has the world-weary mug of a hardened professional who only inflicts pain for business reasons. Plus, there is something very unsettling about the name Pim. :P

2. Diego Maradona (Argentina)

Maradona is not only one of the greatest players of all time, he is also the only one of our choices who lives like a Bond villain in real life.

Does he hang out with Fidel Castro? Sure. Flatten reporters with his Mini Cooper? Done. An extreme, operatic personality, Maradona (below) will either guide a talent-laden Argentina to soccer immortality, or stage one of the most flamboyant flame-outs in World Cup history. Either way, mullets and wolf beards are a go!

3. Dunga (Brazil)

Like Pele, Ronaldo and other beloved legends of Brazil’s patented form of high-art soccer, Dunga (pointing like a madman) uses just one name. And there the resemblance ends.

Known as a tough guy during his playing career, this flat-topped tyrant has stirred controversy by remodeling Brazil’s iconic squad in his own image. In other words, he plans to run his team like it’s in that Rio gun flick “City of God.” (which by the way is a great movie, a must watch)

4. Matjaz Kek (Slovenia)

Besides the fact that “Matjaz Kek” may be the most Bond-villain-y name ever, the dumpling-shaped Slovene capo looks like he should be the figurehead of an extreme and eccentric post-Yugoslavian political movement.

5. Bob Bradley (U.S.)

Stop looking at us! Stop looking at us! We may not have the most glorious soccer pedigree in this country, but we can take pride in producing the most skeletal and unnerving coach in the 2010 World Cup. :P

Bradley’s shorn head, bony countenance and icy, impenetrable concentration-camp-guard stare may serve as one of Team USA’s few built-in competitive advantages, as he will literally freeze the souls of our opponents.

Best Michael Jackson Songs And Performances

I first heard about him when I was around ten.He was coming to India to perform live. I have no idea about that man who he was and what he did. But the only newspaper that I read that time Danik jagran was full of coverage about that. It was kind of shocking for me because there was barely any coverage of any musician by Danik Jagran but this man what they called him King of Pop was all over the page. I was curious about that person and the only channel which I can access at that time was Doordarshan which barely shows anything apart from Hindi music or classical Hindustani music. But I got the glimpse of his show somehow in news and that’s how my love started to the most prolific entertainer ever performed on the cultural stage of world. The first song I heard was Beat it on Hot Tracks on Doordarshan. It was the time our RSS controlled -Vidyamandir was fighting against the western influence but they didn’t realize that boys from their school were dancing on the beats of Micheal Jackson J.He was the most influenced performer world has ever seen. I don’t want to jump into his controversial personal life because everybody does so. He was born for stage not for our messy world. His influence on Indian audience was beyond urban –English speaking population, I guess he is the only non-cricketing foreign personality which is a so well known in India. There is always a constant debate on the depth of his music but for me his music is as meaning full as the music of Frank Sinatra or Bob Dylan. Here is my tribute to my favorite moon-walker. I compiled a list of songs and his performances. Check it out and enjoy the King of Pop

10. Blood on the dance floor (1997)BDFV

A track from his remix album of History. Mixed reviews from critics but who cares. Fans make this album the most selling remix album of all time with 6 million copies. Blood on the dance floor is my favorite from this album. The song is about a woman seduces and kills MJ. This track has all the trademarks of MJ, the ooohing, the grunts, and funky basslines.

9.You Rock my World (2001)YRMWV
The last music creation by MJ which was listed in Top 10, it was very solid comeback from Jacko .He looked like a 23-year lad and the song is a classic disco funk. The video of the song makes it more sizzling, his movements were commendable and his chemistry with Chris Rock was amazing. Rolling Stone described MJ in this video as Colonel Kurtz at the end of Apocalypse Now
.

8.Black or White (1991)BOWV

It’s a racial harmony song by King of Pop. The massage is fantastic and the panther dance sequence has incredible power. MJ showed that he cared about world issue, may be not like other performers but in his unique style. I interpreted this song in this way for MJ it doesn’t matter if his fans are black or white.

7. Man in the Mirror Live @ 1988 GrammyMIMGV

His 1988 Grammy performance of ‘The Way You Make Me Feel & Man in the Mirror’ was one of the most amazing performance I have seen. The difference btw studio version of Man in the Mirror and live version tell us the truth about his live performances.

6. Bad(1987)BV

This song remains one of my favorite of MJ. This song is about proving toughness within. Martin Scorsese directed the video of original song. MJ said that the video for this song is inspired by a true story where a ghetto kid who attended a fancy school was murdered by his friends because he wasn’t “bad” enough.

5. I Want You Back(1970)IWYBV

The biggest hit of his earlier band Jackson 5.His vocal showed the depth in his voice when he was still eight. The earlier dance moves showed why he was considered as a child prodigy. Again the live performance video with all his brothers is a treat to watch.

4.
Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough(1979)DSTEV
Jackson wrote this song. This song suggests that he can be a good lyricist as well J and the chorus said it all “Keep up with the force, don’t stop. Don’t stop ’til you get enough.”First time he used his scream and ouch factor in this song and it was an instant hit at that time.

3. Dangerous(1991)DangV

His live performance MTV music award was simply best. Every movement of his in that video was so rhythmic with music, I sometime felt like he planed dance sequences first than he created the music. Jon Pareles, a writer for The New York Times wrote about this song,”He is a great dancer, yet his songs proclaim a terror of the body and of fleshly pleasures.

2. Beat It(1983)BIV

Beat It was a key track in Jackson’s rise to superstardom. The video of this song was like a short movie in which Jacko use power of music to make peace between two rival groups of gang. Eddie Van Halen starts his guitar solo did the guitar solo for this song for freeJ.This song has enough of everything from pop to hard rock. This song shows MJ as a angry pacifier, his voice and music all supported the same fact in most rhythmic way. Only some songs after Beat It have that much energy what I felt when first time I heard it.

1.Billie Jean (1983)BJV

Billie Jean is the best and brilliant piece of pop music. It’s a musical drama with a great story and distinguishing beats. MJ described her as most charming lady who is out to exploit him. Both sides are equally presented but in the end Billie Jean becomes the sympathetic character. This was the first video with MJ’s signature dance. So it has all the ingredients to be the greatest pop hit ever. MJ knew about the power of this song, check out what he said about this song in his autobiography
Moonwalk,” A musician knows hit material. It has to feel right. Everything has to feel in place. It fulfills you and it makes you feel good. You know it when you hear it. That’s how I felt about ‘Billie Jean.’ I knew it was going to be big while I was writing it. I was really absorbed in that song. One day during a break in a recording session I was riding down the Ventura Freeway with Nelson Hayes, who was working with me at the time. ‘Billie Jean’ was going around in my head and that’s all I was thinking about. We were getting off the freeway when a kid on a motorcycle pulls up to us and says, ‘Your car’s on fire.’ Suddenly we noticed the smoke and pulled over and the whole bottom of the Rolls-Royce was on fire. That kid probably saved our lives. If the car had exploded, we could have been killed. But I was so absorbed by this tune floating in my head that I didn’t even focus on the awful possibilities until later.

Top 10 Mafia Movies

My love for mafia movies started way back in school when i saw “Donnie Brasco”, obviously i had heard of the “Godfather” the novel but reading novel in the 8 th standard was never my thing. But after seeing the movie i was completely blown away and i was obsessed with the mafia world.

Anyone new to the mafia world will probably ask “Is it like the army ?.. like a chain of commands.”

The best answer to this can be answered by the great Al Pachino “ It aaint nothing like the army. The army is some guy you dont kno sends you out to wack some other guy you dont kno.” – Donnie Brasco

The reason why i love mafia is the way it works, the clan hierarchy, the membership, the commission, the drugs/arms trafficking, protection rackets and of course the awesome mafia slangs.

Here’s a little inside look of how a mafia clan works

The Mafia has controlled everything from the street corner drug trade to the highest levels of government. Glorified by movies and television, hounded by law enforcement officials, marked for death by their enemies, mobsters live violent and often brief lives. The Mafia at its core is about one thing — money. Still, there are secret rituals, complicated rules and tangled webs of family loyalty.

This is only the beginning, Watch these top 10 mafia movies to get a real insight on how this organised and dangerous clan works, its really fascinating. Its not Kaboom- crash hero saves the day kinda movie.

It doesn’t get REAL than this.

#10. The Departed

Young undercover cop Billy Costigan is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by gangland chief Frank Costello. Each man becomes deeply consumed by his double life, gathering information about the plans and counter-plans of the operations he has penetrated. But when it becomes clear to bot

h the mob and the police that there’s a mole in their midst, Billy and Colin are suddenly in danger of being caught and exposed to the enemy-and each must race to uncover the identity of the other man in time to save himself. But is either willing to turn on the friends and comrades they’ve made during their long stints undercover?

In a series of character-led incidents set against the background of New York City’s Little Italy, we follow the life of Charlie, a small-time member of the wiseguy community who collects protection money. His friends Tony and Michael are part of the community, but his other friend Johnny Boy is unreliable and therefore must be shunned. Charlie’s secret girlfriend Teresa has epilepsy, and so must also be shunned. When Charlie’s uncle Giovanni offers him a restaurant – the first step up the ladder – Charlie is forced to choose between his desire for power, his love for Teresa and his duty to protect his friend Johnny Boy.

#8. Casino

This Martin Scorsese film depicts the Janus-like quality of Las Vegas–it has a glittering, glamorous face, as well as a brutal, cruel one. Ace Rothstein and Nicky Santoro, mobsters who move to Las Vegas to make their mark, live and work in this paradoxical world. Seen through their eyes, each as a foil to the other, the details of mob involvement in the casinos of the 1970′s and ’80′s are revealed. Ace is the smooth operator of the Tangiers casino, while Nicky is his boyhood friend and tough strongman, robbing and shaking down the locals. However, they each have a tragic flaw–Ace falls in love with a hustler, Ginger, and Nicky falls into an ever-deepening spiral of drugs and violence.

#7. The Untouchables

1920′s prohibition Chicago is corrupt from the judges downward. So in going up against Al Capone, Treasury agent Eliot Ness picks just two cops to help him and his accountant colleague. One is a sharp-shooting rookie, the other a seen-it-all beat man. The four of them are ready to battle Capone and his empire, but it could just be that guns are not the best way to get him.

#6. Carlito’s Way

Carlito has just gotten out of prison due to technicalities with the help of his sleazy lawyer. After a life spent trafficking heroin he decides not to pursue the life of the streets. He buys into a night club and begins saving money to move to the Bahamas, but his presence as a known player makes it inevitable that he get sucked back into his violent former life.

#5. Scarface

An update of the 1932 film, Scarface (1983) follows gangster Tony Montana and his close friend Manny Ray from their trip on the Cuban Boat Lift for refugees to their arrival in Miami. After killing a powerful Cuban figure, Montana and company gain the ability to leave their refugee camps and roam around the U.S. After unsuccessfully trying to make it legitamately in the country, Montana and Ray resort to selling cocaine to dealers around the world. Tony’s rise is quick, but as he becomes more powerful, his enemies and his own paranoia begin to plague his empire.

#4. Donnie Brasco

This true story follows FBI agent Joe Pistone as he infiltrates the mafia of New York. Befriending Lefty Ruggiero, Pistone (under the name Donnie Brasco) is able to embed himself in a mafia faction lead by Sonny Black. Ruggiero and Pistone become tight as the group goes about collecting money for ‘the bosses’. Eventually, the group become big time when Black himself becomes a boss, all the while Pistone collects evidence. However, the trials and tribulations of the undercover work become more than Pistone can bear. His marriage falls apart and to top it off, the mafia suspect a mole in the organization. The real dilemma is afforded to Pistone, who knows if he walks away from the mafia, Ruggiero will be the one punished.

#3. Once Upon A Time In America

Epic, episodic, tale of the lives of a small group of New York City Jewish gangsters spanning over 40 years. Told mostly in flashbacks and flash-forwards, the movie centers on small-time hood David ‘Noodles’ Aaronson and his lifelong partners in crime; Max, Cockeye and Patsy and their friends from growing up in the rough Jewish neighborhood of New York’s Lower East Side in the 1920s, to the last years of Prohibition in the early 1930s, and then to the late 1960s where an elderly Noodles returns to New York after many years in hiding to look into the past.

#2. Goodfellas

The lowly, blue-collar side of New York’s Italian mafia is explored in this crime biopic of wiseguy Henry Hill. As he makes his way from strapping young petty criminal, to big-time thief, to middle-aged cocaine addict and dealer, the film explores in detail the rules and traditions of organized crime. Watching the rise and fall of Hill and his two counterparts, the slick jack-of-all-trades criminal Jimmy Conway and the brutish, intimidating Tommy DeVito, this true story realistically explores the core, blue-collar part of the mob.

#1. The Godfather

This was the easiest choice for me – the Godfather has to be numero uno because it is unparalleled in this genre (and virtually all others). Vito Corleone is the aging don (head) of the Corleone Mafia Family. His youngest son Michael has returned from WWII just in time to see the wedding of Connie Corleone (Michael’s sister) to Carlo Rizzi. All of Michael’s family is involved with the Mafia, but Michael just wants to live a normal life. Drug dealer Virgil Sollozzo is looking for Mafia Families to offer him protection in exchange for a profit of the drug money. He approaches Don Corleone about it, but, much against the advice of the Don’s lawyer Tom Hagen, the Don is morally against the use of drugs, and turns down the offer. This does not please Sollozzo, who has the Don shot down by some of his hit men. The Don barely survives, which leads his son Michael to begin a violent mob war against Sollozzo and tears the Corleone family apart.

Top Graphic Novels To Jump Into

As a child everyone of us must have read comics like Tintin,Amar Chitra Katha,Chacha Chaudhry,Naagraj,Raj Comics etc .I had spent 80% of my pocket on that same things. All friends always discussed about the upcoming ones and everyone had some favorite hero, but after some time I just forgot about the comics thing in life, I realized one thing now it was not because of lack of interest but due to lack of graphic novels for adults in India. There is a misconception in India about the comics or particularly about graphic novels that this category belongs to kids. Graphic novels are the crossroads between story and films. Graphic novels around the world are regarded as artistic as the conventional novels.I feel we are going through the transformation mode in reading behavior, now more and more artist are coming out with their real graphic novels. If you as a reader want to try this genre check out some of genre best from Indian and International artists.

International Titles

Persepolis by Marjane Satrap

This is the one which has changed the perception of graphic novels in Europe and around the world. Marjane Satrap portrayed her childhood up to her early adult years in Iran during and after the Islamic revolution in this masterpiece. The film based on it was nominated for Oscar for best animated feature film.

Palestine by Joe Sacco

It’s a graphic novel about the condition of Palestinian people in West bank and Gaza Strip. This was based on experiences of Joe Sacco. The Most important fact is most of the scenes in the book are conversations between Sacco and Palestinians, and though the events they talk about are presented visually the dialog is always present as a form of narration for the events.

Maus: A Survivor’s Tale by Art Spiegelman

It is a Pulitzer Prize Special Award biography by Art Spiegelman. Art used his father Vladek Spiegelman) about life in Poland before and during the Second World War with the contemporary life of Art, Vladek, and their loved ones in the Rego Parkneighborhood of City. It is considered as the one of the best graphic novel.

Indian Titles

The Barn Owl’s Wondrous Capers by Sarnath Banerjee

The book is about how the narrator, while in London, receives news that his grandfather has expired in Kolkata and left for him an old valve-type radio set, a silver lighter, an antique motorcycle and an 18th century book of scandals called The Barn Owl’s Wondrous Capers. But, by the time he arrives at Kolkata to collect his inheritance, his grandmother has given everything away. The novel is about his search for the book. The most amazing thing is his drawing. Narrator and his friend Digital Datta searched every nook and corner of Kolkata and that’s way we have best visualization of Kolkata. It’s one of those graphic novels which can start your hunger for more.

Kari by Amruta Patil

Trainee copywriter by profession, pessimist by nature, perpetually frowning, Kari’s life in Mumbai revolves around her flat shared with two women and their boyfriends. Her separation with her soul mate Ruth make her more pessimist, Kari becomes a ‘boatman’ rowing to her own rhythm, ferrying other passersby across the sea of metropolitan life, which pushes Kari along on her own journey of reconciling with the hand she’s dealt. Again the visualizations will capture you in its imagination net.

The Believers by Abdul Sultan n Partha Sengupta

Written by Abdul Sultan with illustrations by Partha Sengupta, religious intolerance in the Munnar region of Kerala is the base of the novel. It’s about two brothers, Hamid, an anthropology professor in Scotland, returns home to his childhood village and discovers that his older brother now heads a hard-line Islamic group. It is simply drawn and makes minimal use of color, but still manages to convey a sense of the lush, palm-filled Kerala landscape.

I hope these novels will increase your appetite for more.

Apple’s Steve Jobs announces iPhone 4 !!

At the Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple’s Chief Executive Steve Job announced the features of the most anticipated phone of the year – the 4th generation iPhone.

Yes, its official now, They will soon launch iPhone in an all new avatar.

Recently Apple unveiled plans for the biggest and most exciting iPhone software update yet. iPhone OS 4 will include over 100 new user features for iPhone and iPod touch owners to enjoy. And for developers, a new software development kit (SDK) offers over 1500 new APIs to create apps that are even more powerful, innovative, and amazing.

What’s new:

• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It’s unclear if it’s the 960×640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the “Connect to iTunes” screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What’s changed:

• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

All in all :

  • Jobs “Thinnest smartphone on the planet.”
  • Glass front and back panels
  • Entire stainless steel rim is the antenna
  • 960 x 640, 326 pixel per inch display
  • 800:1 contrast ratio
  • IPS Technology screen
  • Front facing camera
  • Rear facing camera with LED flash.
