October Sky (Movie)

“Sometimes one dream is enough to light up the whole sky”

Life is all about dreaming and working in order to watch them come true. A boy who could see the future… A father stuck in the past… A dream that wouldn’t die… “October Sky” is a true story of a boy who lived in a small town of Coalwood, United States during 1950’s.

Plot: Homer Hickam is a kid with only one future in sight, to work in the local coalmine like his father. However in October 1957, everything changes when the first artificial satellite, Sputnik goes into orbit. Built by USSR, the arch rival of US in the Cold War Era, Sputnik proves to be a milestone in the history of mankind. While the entire world gasped at this tremendous feat, Homer makes plans of his own. He, along with his three other friends decides to make their own Rocket. Once an average school kid, Homer now starts taking interest in Maths and Rocket science. He now have dreams… a dream to shoot a rocket of his own… a dream go for higher studies… a dream to live a life out of the coal mines.

But every dream has a price to pay. These “Rocket Boys” are not taken seriously by any of the residents of Coalwood, most of which think they are doing nothing but wasting their time, money and most importantly their youth. For Homer it gets even worse as his father never consider him capable of doing anything outstanding and that he is now selling time in mindless crap. Only Miss Riley, one of his school teacher who believes in his dreams, becomes the only source of inspiration.

She enlightens him saying “As long as you are alive on this planet you have a choice” and that “Sometimes you can’t just listen to what anybody else says… you just gotta listen inside”. This motivation pulls Homer out of the mines and restart over his dream project with even more heart, desperation and courage. But is this motivation enough to make Homer watch his dreams come true? Will he be able to fly a rocket of his own? Can these Rocket Boys prove it to the world that impossible is nothing?

blah

Based on the novel “Rocket Boys” written by Homer Hickman himself, October Sky is a true story and one of the best inspirational movie I have ever seen. It is a family film for the ages, encouraging the highest potential of the human spirit while giving viewers a clear view of a bygone era when “the final frontier” beckoned to the explorer in all of us. If you ever had a dream but you never had a clue what it takes to fulfill it, then this movie is for you to get going !!!

Today, Homer Hadley Hickam, Jr. (born February 19, 1943) is an American author, Vietnam veteran, and a former NASA engineer. His autobiographical novel Rocket Boys: A Memoir, was a #1 New York Times Best Seller, is studied in many American and international school systems. Now that’s what I call a performance :)

And hey, have you noticed that “October Sky” is an anagram of “Rocket Boys” ;) !!!

Iron Man (Movie)

Iron Man (2008)

Ok, I have never read “Iron Man” comics ever in my life but this movie is awesome (I actually watched it twice).

The movie moved at a very good pace. The perfect Mix of action, comedy and some drama makes this movie more entertaining.

In the middle of the movie you’d probably think that this is it and the plot cant get bigger than this and Bamm!! the movie takes a roaring start again.

You know you’re going to get a different kind of superhero when you cast Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role. And Iron Man is different, in welcome ways. Cleverly updated from Marvel Comics’ longstanding series, Iron Man puts billionaire industrialist Tony Stark (that’s Downey) in the path of some Middle Eastern terrorists; in a brilliantly paced section, Stark invents an indestructible suit that allows him to escape. If the rest of the movie never quit hits that precise rhythm again, it nevertheless offers plenty of pleasure, as the renewed Stark swears off his past as a weapons manufacturer, develops his new Iron Man suit, and puzzles both his business partner (Jeff Bridges in great form) and executive assistant (Gwyneth Paltrow). Director Jon Favreau geeks out in fun ways with the hardware, but never lets it overpower the movie, and there’s always a goofy one-liner or a slapstick pratfall around to break the tension. As for Downey, he doesn’t get to jitterbug around too much in his improv way, but he brings enough of his unpredictable personality to keep the thing fresh. And listen up, hardcore Marvel mavens: even if you know the Stan Lee cameo is coming, you won’t be able to guess it until it’s on the screen. It all builds to a splendid final scene, with a concluding line delivery by Downey that just feels absolutely right.

Go watch it now!!

The Bank Job

The Bank Job

Having been weaned on The Italian Job, Thomas Crown Affair and the Ocean’s 11 series, The Bank Job is glaringly lacking. Set in the 70s and based on a true story of an extraordinary bank heist, it would be understandable if snazzy gizmos and high-tech effects are absent, but the execution could use a lot of help.

Martine (Saffron Burrows) is an ex-model who hires her ex Terry (Jason Statham) to rob a bank. Despite having already turned over a new leaf complete with a wife and kid, Terry accepts. He and his team push through with their plan, only they uncover not just material wealth but blackmail-worthy bits of damning evidence as well.

There is no charisma between the main characters, between the purported exes and within the thieving team. None of them are even likable so it’s a stretch to get the audience to root for them. The end result is dry, probably because it british !!!!

Watch it if you’re a fan of The Italian Job, Thomas Crown Affair and the Ocean’s 11 series.

Be Kind Rewind

Be Kind Rewind

“Be Kind Rewind” has its appeal in its simplicity, It’s just one of those rare movies where you just stop judging and accept the beauty if it.

The trailer really said it all about this film, and the film delivers everything it promises! What a great concept and how great a story we got from Gondry this time. Very accessible and entertaining from beginning to end. Jack Black and Mos Def play their parts convincingly and in pure natural brilliance.

My respect for Jack Black, for his vast taste, plays his part with such passion and conviction.

Set in a decaying inner-city enclave that’s being threatened by gentrification, Be Kind Rewind centers around two friends’ efforts to save a video store from foreclosure. When the videotapes are accidentally erased of their content in the store, two friends (Jack Black and Mos Def) try to avert disaster by creating their own homemade versions of the store’s films and soon become a big hit in the community. Members of the community start wanting to act and help produce the films

Donnie Brasco (1997)

Before I even start about this awesome flick, just go and watch it right now!!

“Donnie Brasco” is based on a True Story.

It’s the story of FBI agent Joe Pistone (Johnny Depp), who in the late 1970’s was hired to infiltrate the mafia. So, he got acquainted with hit-man Benjamin “Lefty” Ruggiero (Al Pacino). But lo and behold, Joe got too much into the mafia lifestyle, to the point where it dominated his life and kept him from his family. And no one ended up with a very good reward at the end.

This film gives you an accurate picture of life on America’s mean streets and an insight of organized crime.

Both Johnny Depp and Al Pacino are absolute brilliant as we expect them to be, with good support from Michael Madsen, Bruno Kirby, James Russo, Anne Heche and Zeljko Ivanek.

With his hair all greased back, Depp looks like the ultimate Mafioso.

Stop reading this review and go watch it now!!

The Prestige

the prestige The Prestige

The Prestige (2006)

This is one of those movies which will be talked about forever. This is simply a brilliant film.

What “The Prestige” does very well is recreate a period of show business history near the turn of the century in which competition between magicians was serious and intense. The workings of the complicated illusions are gorgeously brought to life via smartly detailed apparatus that replicate the actual mechanics of Victorian legerdemain.

Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale and Sir Michael Caine all contributed stunning, emotional performances. Rebecca Hall, who played Sarah to Bale’s Alfred Borden, turned in a highly charged performance as well, making Scarlett Johansson’s Olivia flat in comparison. And although some people thought the plot line a bit tedious, I found it to be refreshingly complex and engaging, while not being so complex as to lose you.

All in all the work is epic in sweep, beautifully filmed, and strongly acted.

“The rivalry between two magicians is exacerbated when one of them performs the ultimate illusion…..”

Definitely a must have!!

Hockey: Our National Game

leave a comment

Once I asked a 10 year old chap, “What’s out national game?”. As expected, he gave the correct answer, “It’s Hockey !!!”. But what came as a sudden shock to me was his next statement, “But why it is Hockey? Why not Cricket?”. I was clueless. This incident falls back some 6 years from now. A 19 year young Indian, that’s me, can’t justify why is it Hockey and why not Cricket.

That thought remained with me in my sub-conscious mind for years and made me not just watch or play a game, but also made me learn what legacy it has left behind.

Many of us today know that Hockey has given India many golden moment to boast and have pride upon. But only a few know that those moments are golden dreams that no other Hockey playing nation on the face of earth has been able to realize so far. Becoming the first non-European team to be a part of the International Hockey Federation, India’s first exposure to World Hockey was in 1928 Amsterdam Olympic Games in which to everyone’s utter surprise, India came out as unbeaten champs registering its first ever Gold Medal !!! As a matter of fact, it did not conceded even a single goal in the tournament with Major Dhyan Chand (14 goals) being the top goal scorer on the charts. His astounding skills have been glorified in various apocryphal stories and anecdotes. A number such legends revolve around the fact that he had a magical control over dribbling the ball. Many say that the German Olympic officials broke his hockey stick to search for a magnet inside, and tried to console themselves saying he had added some sort of glue !!!

Indian Hockey Team Berlin 1936 Hockey: Our National Game

Indian-Hockey-Team-Berlin-1936

It was mere start of a revolution in the sport. World has to witness much more that this. These champions went on the win SIX Olympic Gold Medals until 1956 and that too, in a row. This was a feast which is still a record standing tall. With 8 Olympic, 1 World Cup, 2 Asian Games and 2 Asia Cup golds in all, this sport has made every Indian proud in a true sense.

Then why is Cricket followed more than Hockey in India despite of being our National Game? Is it a boring game? Is it the politics? Is it the bad play of players in recent past? Is it the lack of sponsors? or is it the lack f infrastructure? I believe it is we, the people of India who are responsible for current state of the game. How many times we ask ourselves to go and watch a Hockey match? How many times we even realized that India won a certain tournament and celebrated like we do for Cricket? It was Dhanraj Pillai’s Gold winner team returning from Asian Games who didn’t found any media or public with garlands to receive them at airport but it was letter of suspension from the Indian Hockey Board which welcomed him. No body gave it a second thought, many of us not even first.

With the Hockey World Cup 2010 (taking place in Delhi) already On, I believe it is our time to return the favor. Lets go and support our National Game.

Un prophète (A Prophet)

This was one of the first French film I have ever watched and i’m glad that i did.

The film is a hard hitting which keeps you gripped and awaiting the clever plot, this movie is very realistic and the way the plot unfolds is absolutely brilliant.

The film is about an Arab who enters jail after a life of trouble. He soon becomes gripped into the underworld of gang violence, he then joins a white gang whilst carrying out jobs for them. While he cleverly starts to build his own empire.

A 19-year-old man of North African origin is sentenced to six years in prison for assaulting a police officer. When he enters prison, he is naïve, shy, and almost withdrawn and cannot read or write. When he leaves six years later, he has become a self possessed, educated individual, capable of controlling his own destiny as well as that of others. Jacques Audiard’s (Read My Lips, The Beat That My Heart Skipped) A Prophet, winner of the Grand Prix Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, is an engrossing coming-of-age drama set in a French prison in which Malik el Djebena (Tahar Rahim), a Muslim estranged from his own community, is recruited into the ruling Corsican Mafia and eventually becomes a gang leader himself. Though deeply involved in nefarious and often bloody activities, the genuineness of his personality makes him an appealing and sympathetic character and adds depth to a riveting experience.

An epic as the Godfather, a must see. – London Times

The Shawshank Redemption

leave a comment

Some movies can change the way of life but this movie can change the mood of your life as soon as you remember the Hope around this movie.

3143119653 77c48dbe77 The Shawshank Redemption

It’s start as a prison story where Warden Samuel Norton had declared,”I believe in two things: discipline and the Bible. Here you’ll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your ass belongs to me. Welcome to Shawshank.

And what Red(Morgan Freeman) describe about that first night in Shawshank,”The first night’s the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in naked as the day you were born, skin burning and half blind from that delousing shit they throw on you, and when they put you in that cell… and those bars slam home… that’s when you know it’s for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it.

Than came the man called Andy(Tim Robbins),who filled Red with his hope of redemption.Check out conversation b/w Andy and Red about music.

Andy Dufresne: That’s the beauty of music. They can’t get that from you… Haven’t you ever felt that way about music?
Red: I played a mean harmonica as a younger man. Lost interest in it though. Didn’t make much sense in here.
Andy Dufresne: Here’s where it makes the most sense. You need it so you don’t forget.
Red: Forget?
Andy Dufresne: Forget that… there are places in this world that aren’t made out of stone. That there’s something inside… that they can’t get to, that they can’t touch. That’s yours.
Red: What’re you talking about?
Andy Dufresne: Hope.

In other scene what Andy declared and that is the real thing about this movie.

Andy Dufresne: “Remember Red, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”

The most courageous thing controlled by that hope of Andy was this.

Red: In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty.Oh, Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure, and time.Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can’t even imagine, or maybe I just don’t want to. Five hundred yards… that’s the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

What this movie told me,“ Get busy living, or get busy dying.”

Enjoy this movie if you like to believe in Hope.

The movie was nominated for seven Academy Awards in 1994 (Best Picture, Best Actor– Morgan Freeman, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Sound Mixing).

If I have to choose in many of Hitchcock’s movies, ‘Rear Window,’ ‘Vertigo,’ ‘Psycho,’ ‘The Birds,’ ‘Rope‘etc. I will choose ‘Rear Window’ as his best movie so far(no offence for fan of Vertigo or Psycho). My reason is personal as a movie watcher, this is the only movie where Hitchcock himself worked as a great movie watcher.

Just imagine, Hitchcock sitting on that wheel chair rather than James Stewart and peeping on his neighbours . That what a good movie watcher do ,he try to capture the world of movie and like to take part in it.That’s why I said Hitchcock was a great Movie watcher also.

rearwindwRept Rear Window(1954)

In this suspense thriller,James Stewart solve a murder mystery while sitting on wheelchair .Such a simple story but a great execution by a great director.

It received four Academy Award nominations, was ranked #48 on AFI’s 100 Years… 100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition).

On the website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has been universally praised, garnering a 100% certified fresh rating.

So take a DVD and see the murder as Peeping Tom. Enjoy!

Find Me Guilty

Find Me Guilty (Movie)

The movie is a courtroom drama based on real events. The film depicts the longest Mafia trial in NYC history, and most of the dialog is taken from the original records of the trial. In 1987-88, some 20 members of the Lucchese crime family, each with his own lawyer, were indicted on some 76 charges ranging from criminal conspiracy to narcotics trafficking. The trial went on for 21 months.

The film focuses on Jack DiNorscio, one of the accused mobsters (played by Vin Diesel), who decides to defend himself. Even though he spent half his life in jail he doesn’t know much about legal proceedings and mostly speaks what comes into his mind thus sometimes making fun of the whole trial.

he physical transformation was astonishing. He gained a lot of weight for this role, and many of you won’t recognize him initially. While watching the film, I totally forgot that I was watching Vin Diesel. He really became the character for me.

All in all a great flick !!

ROCKY

Rocky (Movie)

How do i say this without offending anyone, alright if you haven’t seen “Rocky” then honestly go jump of a cliff or something.

This is a brilliant film, based on Stallone’s own screenplay, where he plays a complex character in such a terrific way it is not strange people thought this was going to be a great actor. Compare it to another great film about a boxer, ‘Raging Bull’, and ‘Rocky’ will be better at some points. It goes without saying that it’s quite an achievement.

Rocky’ is a terrific film in every aspect. The acting is top shelf. Stallone gives such an impressive performance that will actually make you start punching the air.

Everything about this movie spells “UNDERDOG”.

he story is about Rocky Balboa (Stallone), a boxer who once had a glorious future, but now fights for little money in gyms. Then, out of the blue, he gets the chance to fight the heavyweight champ Apollo (Carl Weathers), a stunt from his side. Although Rocky seems to have no chance he starts his training to make the best of it, although at first he is too proud to accept any help. The scene where he finally accepts the help from his old trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith) is one of the best scenes in the film. Rocky also starts dating the very shy girl Adrian (Talia Shire), sister of his friend Paulie (Burt Young).

Get your copy today and get to know the legend “rocky” otherwise i’ll punch out every tooth outta your mouth!!

P.S. – “Rocky” has won many oscars & awards and is also written by Stallone himself.

Do i need to convince ya more ???

WALL-E

WALL-E

WALL-E, a Pixar’s creation, is about a robot named WALL-E (or ‘Waste Allocation Load Lifter, Earth-Class’), who is the only thing left on earth with some sort of emotion. He meets another robot named EVE, and the trip begins.

This is an excellent movie. It will make any one of any age laugh, tear up, laugh some more. And the subtle messages will make you think

The animation is flawless. Absolutely flawless. Especially on earth and the robots. It looks real. Much of the time it’s impossible to tell whether or not it is real. The few slightly-shaky styled shots that appear a few times in the film only makes the animation that much more amazing and realistic.

The story is brilliant. There are many little things in the film that have so much meaning to them. There are things that will be nostalgic to older viewers, and things that younger viewers will love to look at.

WALL-E is such a lovable character. I’ve never felt so much emotion for one character ever

This is a must watch.!!!!

Wild Hogs

Wild Hogs

Wild Hogs is real good comedy flick, it’s one of my all time favourites.

You’ll love this movie if you just sit back and enjoy the wild ride. Containing a diverse cast that works quite well, a handful of funny cameos, tons of predictable yet enjoyable scenarios, and a rather surprising amount of physical humor; Wild Hogs is a startlingly delightful comedy that isn’t afraid to reach low for a laugh. Coming off as more than just a guilty pleasure, we have good acting running the show, as our longtime cinema veterans mesh together and bring out their best comedic skills to deliver a nice trip through the United States
Wild Hogs follows four middle-aged men losing excitement (among other things) in their daily aspects of life. Doug (Tim Allen) isn’t the fun guy he used to be, Bobby (Martin Lawrence) is not able to run his own home, Woody (John Travolta) has lost pretty much everything, and Dudley (William H. Macy) has nothing to begin with. The four of them decide to take their boring lives out for a spin, and try to relive the glory days of college– ride off in their motorbikes across the country. The main conflict is whether or not they can unleash the Wild Hogs in them and be able to reach California in one piece. The other problem arises when the well-known tough biker gang Del Fuegos crosses paths with them.

Definitely watch this one!!

UNFORGIVEN

This movie is dedicated to all the fans of western genre who want to see real role of Clint Eastwood,Eastwood dedicated this movie to his mentors ‘Sergie and Don‘, Sergie made him ” The Man with no name” and Don gave him his one of the most recognized role ever “Dairy Harry“,so this movie will thrill you with extreme attitude of Eastwood and his brilliance in western genre. He won his first best director Oscar for this movie.

Eastwood plays a weakened, once-violent but reformed gunfighter – and an aging pig farmer. He was pursed by Schofield Kid (Jaimz Woolvett) to win a bounty against a notorious killer but Little Bill (Oscar-winner Gene Hackman), however, has no intention of letting any bounty hunters impinge on his iron-clad authority. At last Munny(Eastwood)he accepted the union for his children, and the two men convince Munny’s clean-living comrade Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman) to join them in righting a wrong done to a woman.

his serious, dark, film-noirish, violent tale of retribution that concludes with a climactic and bloody showdown. The themes of justice, law enforcement, the untamed West, corruption, revenge, honor, feminism and masculinity, mythic heroes vs. reality, the tainted gunfighter, and the central, brooding and complex message of the non-glamorous, painful nature of gunplay and violence are well-delineated.
Hackman ), Best Director, and Best Film Editing (Joel Cox),total four Oscars out of nine nominations.

Just watch it for neo-violence of western and Clint Eastwood.

Bourne Trilogy

Remember… Everything. Forgive… Nothing.

FlipGraph brings to you, the best action thriller of the 20th century: The Bourne Trilogy – a golden collection of all three jaw dropping Bourne movies – The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy & The Bourne Ultimatum.

Forget about James Bond, give Matt Helm some rest. It’s time for Jason Bourne to rule the spy world. This series is based upon the character Bourne, a former CIA assasin suffering from psychogenic amnesia, created by author Robert Ludlum in his novels. You might have seen sequel movies and would always have said, “Terminator 2 is the best of all…” or “First movie of the Matrix series is much better than rest…”. But the magic of Bourne will never let you compare among the three parts as all of them are equally brilliant in all aspects. Let it be casting, performance, script, thrill, action, dialogues, anything… the movies are simply brilliant in all corners. Now let me take you through a glimpse of the series one by one. Enjoy the trailers.

The Bourne Supremacy: Some two years after learning that he is a trained assassin and breaking his connections with the CIA, Jason Bourne is framed for a crime connected to one of his past missions. A subsequent attempt on his life results in her Love, Marie’s death, so he decides to take revenge by hunting down those responsible for her death and his forgotten past, thinking that the CIA are hunting him again. His quest for revenge pulls him back into his past. And now he starts playing their game, on his rules…

The Bourne Identity: A man is found, almost dead, floating in the Mediterranean Sea with two gunshot wounds in his back and a device with the number of a Swiss safe deposit box embedded in his hip. He wakes up to find that not only he has forgotten what happened last night, but also what his identity is and where he belongs to. The man assumes the name Jason Bourne after finding passports under the name in the safe deposit box, along with many other international passports bearing his photograph but all having different names, large amounts of assorted currencies, and a gun. He subsequently attempts to discover his true identity while countering attempts on his life by CIA assassins, eventually realizing that he is one such assassin who failed to complete his most recent mission. All he wants now is to forget what he didn’t knew and start over…

The Bourne Ultimatum: His Identity… erased. His Loved One… murdered. His Past… destroyed. With nothing to loose anymore, Bourne decides to take them all down and uncover those who did it all this to him. But to do so, he has to first uncover his secrets… his past… his true identity… The Bourne Ultimatum will make you want to cry that the series is complete, yet you won’t not even attempt to stop smiling for hours after watching the ending. However for me, that last one was never a problem. I think it adds to the suspense…

Doug Liman and Paul Greengrass have created this mind blowing series with all the action, the dialogue, and of course the shaky camera. Cast is superb and no one could have done it better than Matt Damon himself. Its an unforgettable trilogy and a collection worth treasuring!!!

Boy A

Boy A

The Christian author Lewis B. Smedes once said that, “to forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.” John Crowley’s Boy A is a powerfully gripping film about what happens when we fail to forgive ourselves for wrongdoing and give society the opening to move in and assuage our guilt. Jack Burridge (Andrew Garfield) has been released from prison after serving fourteen years for a murder that he helped commit when he was ten years old, but the struggle to recover his life has just begun.

Adapted by Mark O’Rowe from the novel by Jonathan Trigell, the story is a reminder of the notorious 1993 Jamie Bulger case when two ten-year-olds were convicted of murdering Jamie Bulger, aged two, although Trigell says that his inspiration for the book was a friend of his who served prison time as a juvenile and turned into “a lovely lad.” In the Bulger case, the British media portrayed the two boys as evil savages, ignoring circumstances that might have compelled them to commit the act. Sadly, Jack’s release is also trumpeted in the media with a scare headline about “evil coming of age” and a drawing of how he might look today.

Boy A is a compassionate and disturbing film that won numerous BAFTA awards for acting, directing, editing, and cinematography, though it started out as a made for TV movie. As Jack, Andrew Garfield turns in a superb performance, allowing his face to reveal his vulnerability and his changing moods to reveal the tightrope on which he is walking. Though the film has moments of pathos, it is not without grace. We cling tenaciously to those moments of transcendence, sensing that they might be fleeting, but knowing that they will never be forgotten.

New York

New York (Movie)

This movie is to be seen from the perspective of international students, and is basically about events of 9/11 right in New York. For most of us, larger events in the world are just headlines in the newspapers but these events can change our lives… forever.

Cast : John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan Khan

The film is one such contemporary story of the friendship, which is set against the larger than life backdrop of a city New York, which is often described as the centre of the world.

The story is about the beautiful lives of 3 young friends, whose beautiful lives are turned upside down by larger events that are beyond their control. How the situation changes the entire life of people and the nation is to be seen in the movie itself.

The story revolves around the suspicion and trauma that most Muslims went through post 9/11. The atmosphere of fear and prejudices which seemed to have engulfed the nation are portrayed without going overboard and without losing the tautness and tenacity of the storyline.

Wake Up Sid

Wake Up Sid

Wake Up Sid revolves around the story of Siddharth, a rich spoilt brat living off his father’s money without a single care in the world. His only penchant is photography and spending money which he proudly claims to be his dad. However, as all stories in tinseltown go, his life changes when he meets the demure newcomer in his city, Aisha (played by Konkona Sen Sharma). What follows is a nicely written story of a platonic relationship, Sid’s self-realisation and coming up of age, and a love affair which finally blossoms.

There are five things that make “Wake Up Sid” a delightful affair.

It has a constant flow throughout; no over the top or understated drama; no ultra emotional strangulation of audiences; absolutely no yuppie cool dude act; and lastly, the film has a well-written, original and refreshing story, something which other movies in recent times have completely overlooked.
