Brokeback Mountain

“You become what you love not what loves you.”

am curiously intrested in this movie which is called by almost all media as ‘a cowboy gay love story’.But I am agree with on later part it’s a pure love story.As love starts with accident and remains alive forever.Same with the case with this Ang Lee’s epic western.

Two cowboys alone in a beautiful valley surrounded with silence and pure beauty of love what else love needs ,a perfect setting to fill the human heart.That’s how two men fell in love with each other and movie covers their whole life as lovers,who have wives and children at home but they come back again and again to valley of love.

It remind me song by Joy Division:

When the routine bites hard
and ambitions are low
And the resentment rides high
but emotions won’t grow
And we’re changing our ways,
taking different roads
Then love, love will tear us apart again

I was always prejudice about Chinese looking face(but i have changed my self now ) and their ability to make emotional movies,but kudos to Ang Lee who was brilliant in art of movie making.I consider it one of the best romantic drama of last 20 years,with lots of real human emotions. Jake Gyllenhaal, Ann Hathaway and the magnificent Michelle Williams give superb performances but it’s Heath Ledger’s film.He will be remembered for this role forever.

“He always said he wanted his ashes scattered on Brokeback Mountain, but I wasn’t sure where that was. I thought Brokeback Mountain might be around where he grew up. Knowing Jack, it was probably some pretend place, where bluebirds sing and there’s a whiskey spring…”

Give it a chance don’t be a prisoner of your prejudice. And I am sure you will understand love easily.:)
