The Illusionist

The Illusionist

First of all, this is a brilliantly-filmed movie, just gorgeous from first to last frame. The story is really impressive, a fantasy-mystery- romance-drama-magic combination set in Vienna.

Believe me when i say it, Its a killer combination!

This movie contains fine acting by Ed Norton and Paul Giamatti, both show exceptional skill in portraying their roles. I think this is one of the best performances from Giamatti. Rufus Sewell plays his part of the Crown Prince exceptionally well and one cannot leave a theater or watch at home without finding a bit of contempt for his character. Jessica Biel has a good performance, but she does not seem altogether in character for her part.

It’s Victorian age Vennia, and a magician named Eisenheim comes eye to eye with his long lost childhood love Sophie on stage during one of his popular performances. She’s about to wed Crown Prince Leopold of Austria, a dangerous authoritarian-minded man. How do you stop an evil monarch from running away with your love, especially when he’s got his competent Chief Inspector on your tail? As Eisenheim and Sophie try to rekindle their renewed love, events transpire into the intense and unexplainable. This is Neil Burger’s absolutely remarkable film, The Illusionist.

Definitely worth adding to your collection!!
