Down to Earth – Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy’s “Down to Earth” album is a triumphant return to the Ozzy of old. It has a sound somewhere in between “No More Tears” and “No Rest for the Wicked”. Great guitar riffs & rhythms and decent guitar solos.

Ozzy Osbourne is the most sentimental man in metal – and tough enough to let it show in “Gets Me Through” and “Dreamer,” the two best songs on Down to Earth. The first is a thumping thanksgiving, Osbourne’s admission that he is nothing like you think and would be even less without his fans. “I’m not the kind of person you think I am/I’m not the Antichrist or the iron man,” he sings, punning on an old Black Sabbath song title in the first verse before going all tender in the second: “But I still love the feeling I get from you/I hope you never stop, because it gets me through.”

He writes and sings about looking into the abyss – so you know which way to run. He’s never done it better.

A must listen!!
